Brethren,

I attended the 600th Meeting of Lodge Fire Brigades No 940 50th Jubilee Anniversary last night at the Sydney Masonic Centre.

It was a good turn out, there were around 120 Masons inside Lodge Room 3 and about 160+ in the banquet including the ladies.

The Grand Master, Most Wor Bro Greg Levenston, has given an interesting spiel about Lodge Jose Rizal's planning 10 years ago, how it was formed and how we do our initiation [raising] differently from other jusrisdictions in the world.

He mentioned how interesting the initiation is conducted 'Filipino style' [Masonic style] and how he enjoyed seeing a little bit of 'tragedy' on the side. He extended the invitation to all 120+ Masons to be present at the Consecration this Saturday, so I believe we might have a few more visitors. The GM is looking forward to seeing degree works carried out in the Filipino-jurisidiction style.

While on the subject of attending lodges, tonight [28 January] Lodge Horizons No 1032 will be initiating four candidates at the SMC. We tyle at 7pm and I know this is a short notice but anyone is welcome to drop by. The following Tuesday, we had to ask for dispensation to initiate another four candidates.

See you all this Saturday.

Sincerely & fraternally,

Kristan

Ding Roces on Rizal

"The greatest example he bequeathed to generations after him and up to the present was the peaceful but inspiring way that he awakened the consciousness of a people who were then nestled in a convenient but shackling colonial rule and how he, through the values and ideals he espoused in his writings, and a brilliant satirical way with which he described people and situations, instituted reforms in a society beholden to a religious culture that is at the same time foreign and repressive.

Rizal said, “It is a useless life that is not consecrated to a great ideal. It is like a stone wasted on the field without becoming a part of any edifice.” Hence, he made his life, not only a useful one, but one that excelled and shines brightly to this day. He is the cornerstone that served as a strong foundation of Philippine democracy."

Daily Motivation

All Great Achievements Take Time

Every big accomplishment is a series of little accomplishments.

To achieve maximum success you must accept that progress is made one step at a time.
A building is built one brick at a time.
Football games are won one play at a time.
A business grows bigger one customer at a time.
You walk over the highest mountain one step at a time.

Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.
Nothing great is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or an apple miraculously appears.
If you want to grow an apple, you must give it time.
There must be time for it to blossom, bear fruit and then ripen.

That which grows fast, withers as rapidly.
That which grows slowly, endures.
